I have actually been a fan of Errol's movies since 1980 when
he made Gates of Heaven and haven't missed a film he has made since then.
So when the chance to actually work with him arrived, I was most enthusiastic
as well as being honored. I've always felt a kinship with his odd aesthetic
and realized that he had an extraordinary ability to blend art and documentary
filmmaking. No matter what the subject, his films all felt unique. In the end,
it was a wonderful collaboration and the experience was every bit as challenging,
rewarding, and fun as I had hoped.
