BRIEF REVIEW
Wisely collecting together a ragbag group of second tier film
and television actors, this chick-flick for the gay male community is a warm
but not overly mushy snapshot of a group of differently charactered men in Hollywood
brought together by a shared sexual preference. Because this isn't a screwball
comedy nor a romantic extravaganza there really isn't much scope for the composer's
talents. This isn't helped by the prevalence of popular songs in most (of the
few) extended non-speech sequences. Christophe Beck obviously feels the pinch,
but makes a workmanlike effort where permitted by the director. The principal
example has been recorded as clip 2, where a plaintive viola melody pinpoints
the low point in the story.
Webmaster's note: there is no plan for an extended feature
on this score. In the absence of a CD soundtrack, the DVD release may suffice.
So far existing on Region 1 only, it includes presentations in widescreen and
full screen, and features a director and producer's commentary, plus deleted
scenes (no extra music, though).
